The Farm Shop and Pick Your Own

We grow a wide range of usual and unusual fruit and vegetables which we sell in our farm shop in a typical Suffolk barn. During the summer there are many varieties you can pick yourself to get the best quality and flavour.

Alder Carr Farm Shop goes Palm Oil Free...!

Palm oil has been in the press a lot recently due to the threat it is posing to tropical rainforests, due to the large areas being cleared to make way for plantaions. We are continually working on reducing our environmental impact, both on the farm and in their farm shop, tearoom and production kitchen.

Recently we have noticed a number of products creeping in which contain palm oil. This can also just be stated as 'vegetable oil' on the label. We decided to stop selling any products which contain palm oil or palm fat so we are now officially palm oil free.

To try and highlight the huge impact palm oil is having we are holding a fund-raising talk and buffet. All profits will go towards the RSPB's fund to buy threatened rainforest. See Events for more details.

Delicatessen

In 2007 we extended the farm shop and opened our deli.  From our serve over counter we sell a wide variety of local and European cheeses and cold meats.  We also sell many baked goods which are made fresh every day in our own Production Kitchen, these include quiches, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and sausage pie.  A wide range of local wines and beers are also available along with speciality olives and olive products.

Our Own Highland Beef

Available fresh in the farm shop monthly

So why buy Highland beef?

  • Raised in the most natural, animal welfare friendly way possible
  • Unsurpassed for flavour and tenderness
  • Lean and low in cholesterol, it carries just the right amount of marbling through the meat for the best flavour
  • Hung for 21 days to give that succulence and flavour so typical of old fashioned traditional beef

Locally Produced Food
We sell apples, apple juice, pies, meat, Suffolk-cure bacon, cold meats, herb plants, our own free-range eggs, goat's cheese, locally ground flour and Jersey cream from local producers.

Fair Trade
We sell fairly-traded goods in the farm shop - tea, coffee, chocolate etc. We do this in order to help small farmers like ourselves in other parts of the world.
